fire sale for Christmas presents was the first step in the history of JD McCliments Pub.
Instead of shopping with their wives, James and a friend went in search of a "brew." They returned thirsty - but with news of a pub for sale. One thing led to another, and on March 17th, 2004, (in honor of Saint Patty's Day and hoping for an extra dose of Irish luck) James and his wife Jeanne became the proud owners of a Pub!
Friends got together for a "name that place" evening. Many colorful names were suggested. However, recalling their trip to Ireland and Scotland, they remembered that most of the pubs were family names - so it was decided to keep with the pattern. So, James Douglas McCliment et al named the place to be JD McCliments Pub. Jim, his son Emry, his uncle Tom and friends spent until June remodeling. The luck of the Irish was with them, and with the help of one of their first employees, Kim Reid, they brought the Pub to life. Emry McCliment supported the kitchen staff until his Dad found a chef who had the experience to present food a step above regular pub fare. So with Jesse Lowell on board as chef, ongoing projects, including a deck and the good fortune to find a good wait staff and bartenders, JD McCliments has provided Putney and those fortunate enough to find it a place with a friendly welcoming spirit, music and an atmosphere that provides families, couples and singles with a place to come and share in an evening that would otherwise require an expensive trip to Scotland or Ireland!
JD McCliments Pub opened to the public on June 5th, 2004.
